Dear Members;
I would like to take this time to introduce myself: My name is Annette Cunningham and I am very proud that you have shown trust and confidence in me by electing me as your new President. Thank you all.
Just a little bit about myself: I am very proud to say that I came up through the ranks, I started as a Steward 25 years ago and moved to Area Rep and elected as Vice President over Mass Markets. In 1999 I was elected to the office of Executive Vice President, which I held for 9 years. As the EVP I handled multiple contracts which included Agent Services, ATT Wireless, ADT, SBC and of course our biggest employer Qwest.
Since being elected, I have received a lot of feedback from union members that feel as though the Executive Officers are somewhat distant and removed from the membership. I take this feedback very seriously and I will make it my priority to change that perception. One of my main goals this year is to “Bring the union to you”. We have already been to many locations to do a Meet and Greet to introduce the new officers that have been elected (we still have locations we have not yet gotten to) but coordination’s are being made to do so.
We are also asking for help on our different committees i.e., Community Services, Legislative, Organizing and Education just to name a few. We did get people to commit, sometimes we forget that all we have to do is ask and our members have always been there. We are also working to re-vamp our website. We will no longer be sending out our Unity Line Newspaper through the mail, it will be accessible through a link on our web page. There will also be a calendar of events so you can see when we will be “Bring the Union to You”. There is still a lot of work to do on our website; it is a work in progress. We did a show of interest at both Bell Plaza and 205E 2nd South to see if members would attend a membership meeting on site and the answer was a resounding YES. This would be a quarterly meeting, as of this moment, nothing is official but we are looking into making it so.
I am very excited to have the opportunity to lead this local as we are in some very tough economic times, we need to band together more than ever and we need to remember to have FUN!!! You have elected GREAT OFFICERS to represent you they are:

They each bring something different and unique to the table and have some very innovative ideas on how to do things differently. We are all committed to working very hard for YOU, our member for the next three years.
